"Make a wish"
Make a wish LO was actually a mistake! Do you remember when SC had the colour comp on you had to create one 12 x 12 LO or 8.5 x 11 LO or a Card. Well I created all three because of the wording - (there was no OR). Anyway long story short I had already posted them and had to ring them and pick one from the box! Crazy me went for the CARD!!! I don't even to do cards but I liked my card. Ha Ha - I got a runner up prize for the card and they also kept this LO as they loved it! And so I waited and waited and them got an e-mail saying it was in the running for a front cover along with this one below us!!!! WOW so I had two in the running for the cover! And so you all know now that "Make a wish" got it! Let's just say Storm was pretty happy about getting her own cover and not having to share with big sister!
Next we have my "Trash and Treasure" article that featured in SC 63 which I love how it turned out!
"Lollie Pop"
This photo sure brings back my lollie pop days! I decided to get a little funky with this and played along with the shape and color of the lollie pop. I thought a round layout with plenty of stripes was suitable for this page. I used a heap of odd leftover rub-ons and randomly applied them all over. In Fact, it almost feels like a mixed bag of lollies! I also used a couple of larger rub-ons on some transparency film and attached two overlays with a brad.
"Jetty"
When I look at this photo of my husband and my girls on the jetty in Esperance, I can't help but think of calm, wide open spaces. I randomly covered an A4 sheet of transparency film with odd H/S chipboard alphas - creating the illuison of lace cardstock. Continuing this theme, I ripped the paper out of the rimmed tags and hand-stitched them in to place. I folded two half circles and placed them on the edges, finishing off by stitching a white boarder.
"Music"
For this Layout, I thought my leftover H/S letters would be perfect. I arranged my photo first and then I randomly scrambled all the letters around the top half of the photo while forming the word "music" horizontally. I didn't have an "S" letter for the word music so I cut out the negative from the chipboard sheet and colour it in. I also used two felt arrows to highlight the word music.
"She"
I wanted to create a layout about myself using a little jounaling to tell the tale. I began by marking where the photo would go and I stencilled a rough spot to put the wings. Once that was done, I adhered the Tim Holtz grunge board neagtive into place with masking tape. I mixed together some textured paste and paint, applied the mixture over the stencil, then carefully lifted the stencil off and set it aside to dry. For the quote, I drew in the letters off a leftover H/S CB negative and painted some of the odd alphas before adhereing them across the page. I also used a white gel pen and some buttons on the traced letters for a textured look.
"Snippets"
Here I was inspired to use a die tag from the collections range of flash cards. I love that it already has an embellished look about it. It is the perfect size to showcase some pictures from our holiday on the Gold Coast. I down-sized some of my pictures and I also used some stunning images from a brochure. To finish, I machine stitched over the embellishments and added a title at the top of the images.
I hope you have enjoyed the read and I hope I have inspired you to use some of your trash and you turn it into treasure! If you ever have any question please ask me.
Please leave a comment and tell me what you thought about it!
